After a week of rumors on what Facebook would announce today at their event, we now know. In this case the rumors were spot on. Facebook owned Instagram, will now take on Twitter owned Vine with video. An update has just been released to the mobile app, which brings a new camera icon and the video feature. There are a bunch of new filters made specially for the videos. Once done recording, share them just like photos and hope it goes viral. Look just past the break for more information...
To get to the camera recording, you first have to tap the Camera icon at the bottom of the Instagram app and then tap the video recording icon to switch from camera to video. Much like Twitter's Vine, your videos can be between 3-15 seconds. Also like Vine, you have to tap and hold the button to record.
13 new filters came along with this made specially for videos. And if you’re on an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, a Cinema feature will automatically stabilize a shaky video after you take it. To disable stabilization (it’s on by default), tap the shaky camera icon.
Keep in mind that video requires an iPhone 3GS device or newer running iOS 5.0 or later or an Android 4.1 or later smartphone.
You can not upload videos that aren't taken outside of the Instagram app.
